DIGITAL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER FOR BBC WORLDWIDE

Isla Macleod joined BBC Worldwide as Digital Business Development Manager in June 2009. She specialises in developing new media opportunities for BBC.com, the international commercial version of the BBC website, incorporating video on demand opportunities and the BBC's international mobile site.

She is responsible for developing new commercial agreements with affiliate partners and driving behavioural targeting opportunities.

In addition she manages BBC.com's digital sales houses across EMEA to drive revenue from local markets. Prior to joining BBC Worldwide, Isla worked as Digital Development Manager for the Financial Times website ft.com.

FOUNDER OF BRANDSH MEDIA

Angus Robinson is the founder of Brandsh Media, a mobile and social media agency & media services division - which was founded in late 2006 and now has 25 staff members and clients that include Standard Bank, Liberty, MNet, Lovelife, Seacom and MTN.

Angus has 15 years' experience in the industry and is considered to be a "thought leader" in this space.

Prior to starting Brandsh, Angus held a number of senior positions at Striata, NASDAQ listed VerticalNet, the MIH Group (Multichoice & MNet) and MTN - which have given him a solid foundation in the online, media and mobile industries.

Angus is a founding member of the South African Chapter of the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA). As a member of the mobile industry, Brandsh is a member of WASPA and Angus is active on the WASPA Code of Conduct Committee and a number of other WASPA subcommittees. Angus has a B.Com degree.

HEAD OF STRATEGY AND PLANNING, FACEBOOK EMEA

Having joined Facebook in March 2008, shortly after Facebook opened its London office, Trevor heads up Facebook's EMEA Strategy and Planning function.

He is responsible for Sales Strategy and Planning, Insights, and Thought Leadership, with the core objective of helping the growing EMEA Sales teams articulate the Facebook value proposition and advertising product benefits for our EMEA marketing partners.

Prior to this, Trevor had a series of Marketing and Strategy roles at AOL in the UK, which is where he gained much of his digital marketing experience.

Gary Hadfield has been in the 1-2-1 industry for his entire career, which has consisted of 9 years in the mail order industry and 10 years in the internet ecommerce environment. He has had extensive exposure to the local and global industry, working with global players to launch various ventures in South Africa.

Gary Hadfield has been in his current capacity since 2005, and has been instrumental in building the dominant b2c e-commerce play in South Africa. Gary joined kalahari.net in 2000 as Head of Marketing and was then appointed Commercial Manager in 2004.

Adrian Hewlett is a graduate of UCT and the chairman of South Africa's Online Publishers Association (OPA). His day job consists of running the Habari Group, South Africa's leading new media sales house and below the line promotions agency, as well as the newly launched advertising agency, Big Wednesday.

Habari Media exclusively represents MSN's network, BBC, Facebook and MTV to name a few, and runs offices in all major SA centres, including Lagos, Dakar and Nairobi. The Below the line business - Habari Direct - has developed a unique offering in the South African market which allows brands to execute promotional activity rewarding high volume winners with high value lifestyle experiences through multiple channels including print, web, mobile and more. Big Wednesday, a fully integrated through-the-line agency, has expanded the Group's service offering.

Adrian Founded Habari in his spare bedroom in Feb 2004. The business now employs over 65 people in multiple offices across Africa.

Adam has rapidly emerged as one of South Africa's brightest creative stars. His design talent, together with his strong marketing knowledge has made him a valuable asset to the Stonewall+ team. Adam has produced award-winning work for a number of years and has worked on world-class brands. This experience has culminated in him being represented on local and international judging panels including Loerie, ROAR and One Show and Cannes Lions awards.

A natural storyteller, Andy is an award-winning writer and former editor of Men's Health magazine. His experience in feature writing, copywriting, scriptwriting, fiction writing, art and video direction has delivered him to the digital world as conceptual creative director.

Tom Bowman was appointed as Vice President in charge of International advertising sales for BBC.com, the international ad-funded expression of the BBC online, in November 2007.

Tom is a well known digital advertising specialist, having worked for some of the largest names in the industry over the last 12 years.

Prior to joining BBC.com, Tom held a number of commercial roles at MSN including leading the global sales team, opening new markets and heading up the Asia sales team. Prior to his time at MSN, Tom was the launch sales director for Yahoo! in the UK.

At BBC.com Tom is in charge of driving advertising sales for the BBC.com portal in overseas markets. Since its launch in November 2007, the site has signed up a host of Blue Chip, international advertisers including Airbus, Cathay Pacific, Nokia, Lexus, Suzlon and Rolex.

CHAIRMAN OF THE LOWE BULL GROUP AND WORLDWIDE CREATIVE DIRECTOR OF LOWE WORLDWIDE

Matthew Bull founded Lowe Bull in 1996 in partnership with the leading global agency network Lowe.

In 2003 he left South Africa to become CEO of the Lowe flagship office in London. In 2005 he was promoted to Chief Creative Officer of Lowe Worldwide.

However, you can only braai in the snow so many times, so at the end of 2006 he returned to South African to resume day to day control of his agency. However, he retains his position as worldwide creative director for Lowe which means he spends an awful lot of time buying fresh underpants at airports.

He is a creative person by nature which means he is often unreasonable and irrational particularly when watching his football team Manchester United. He is incredibly well behaved in front of clients.

The loves of his life are wife Suzie and bubblies Sarah (13) and Tom (10).

His hero is his Mother.

He weighs 91kg.

MANAGING EXECUTIVE AT TNS RESEARCH SURVEYS

Karin Du Chenne heads up the research team as Managing Director at TNS Research Surveys in Johannesburg.

Her unconventional outlook allows her to give new and different insights to the wide range of clients that she has consulted over the 16 years she has been in research.

She has applied her life-skills attained as a mom, chef, scubadiver, bushwacking fanatic to clients in sectors such as FMCG, financial, technology and government.

Karin has a particular passion for technology and problem solving and when not applying her mind to a complex Sudoku problem or a 1500 piece puzzle she focusses on delving into the meaning behind the numbers.



MANAGER FOR THE BLACK DIAMOND™ DEPARTMENT AT TNS RESEARCH SURVEYS

After completing a Bachelor of Business Science Marketing (Honours) degree at the University of Cape Town, Rudo began her marketing research career at TNS Research Surveys as a Junior Research Executive in 2005.

Within six months, she was appointed as Research Executive, working on a variety of accounts from financial services clients to FMCG. Within a year, she was solely responsible for two accounts, with minimal supervision from her manager.

In 2007, Rudo wrote an award-winning paper, titled The Rolling Stones - Exploring the Job-Hopping Phenomenon amongst Black Professionals in South Africa. The paper looked at the myth of job-hopping amongst black professionals in South Africa. This attracted a lot of media attention, leading to three radio interviews and four newspaper articles (including Letter from the Editor) following the release of the paper. The award was Best Contribution to Research in Africa (2007).

In 2008, Rudo was appointed Manager for the Black DiamondTM Department at TNS Research Surveys and is now responsible for the day-to-day and strategic running of the department.

One of Rudo's great passions, apart from marketing research itself, is innovation through thought leadership - a role that has seen her career catapult from Junior Research Executive to Manager within three years.

Busi has worked as the Marketing Development Manager of Media24 Women's Magazines division.

In this role she was responsible for identifying marketing initiatives and pursuing new business opportunities.

As the former editor of True Love Magazine, Busi consolidated the magazine's brand identity in a competitive market, making True Love the number one English-speaking woman's magazine in SA at that time.

Prior to her career in publishing career, Busi gained invaluable experience in marketing and advertising, working for AC Nielsen South Africa and JWT.

A prolific writer and speaker, she is presently the Executive Head of Afrilink Investcorp Pty Ltd's Media and Entertainment Division - with specific focus on: new market development - local/international, consumer intelligence research, brand positioning, as well as the inter-continental cultural interface - predominantly in the Caribbean islands.

Adrian Hewlett graduated from UCT with a post graduate diploma in Marketing.

Adrian began his on-line career as marketing manager at Rugby365. Within six months that role included managing all sales.

Following an 18 month secondment to the 365 plc UK head office, Adrian returned to SA in 2002 to drive an aggressive expansion and resource growth plan for the 365 CT.

In 2004 Adrian broke off to found Habari Media; which exclusively represents MSN's network, Sharenet, BBC.com. Gumtree and CareerJunction to name a few.

Habari has offices in all major SA centres, Lagos, Dakar and Maputo. Habari Media employs over 65 people and has launched a financial site Justmoney.co.za.

Adrian is passionate about growing the on-line industry and believes 2009 is going to be a major turning point for the industry following similar tipping point's in Europe 3 years ago. Adrian was also a founding member and current Chairman of the Online Publishers Association.
